Synoptic situation of Europe and Mediterranean Area for Thursday November, 27th 2025

Good morning!

As we glance at the weather map for Europe and the Mediterranean today, we’re seeing quite an intriguing atmospheric setup. A low-pressure system is stirring things up over the northern Atlantic, bringing some brisk winds. These winds are sweeping across the UK and Ireland, with gusts reaching up to 58 knots in some areas. Meanwhile, a high-pressure ridge is extending over parts of southern Europe, bringing calmer conditions.

Cloud cover is quite varied. Clear skies dominate regions stretching from southern Spain to the eastern Mediterranean, providing plenty of sunshine. However, dense cloud cover is prevalent over eastern and central Europe, particularly around Turkey, where cloud fractions are nearing maximum values.

Temperature-wise, there’s a distinct chill in northern and eastern Europe. The coldest spots are experiencing temperatures as low as -13 degrees Celsius in central Poland. In contrast, the southern Mediterranean enjoys milder conditions, with temperatures climbing up to 28 degrees Celsius in Egypt.

Precipitation is mostly light, with some moderate rain showers expected in parts of the Balkans and western Turkey. Snowfall is limited, with only a few areas in the central Balkans seeing some accumulation.

Wind speeds are generally moderate across the continent, but do watch out for those strong gusts in the northwestern regions. Overall, it’s a mixed bag of weather across Europe today, so keep those umbrellas handy if you’re in the rain-prone areas!
